Accusing Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu’s government of ignoring public welfare and benefiting allies, BJP’s chief spokesperson and Hamirpur Assembly constituency’s by-election in-charge, MLA Ranbir Sharma, sharply criticized the state government’s policies during a Panna Pramukh conference at the Bohani, Galiyan, Langwan, and Kallar Katoch villages of the Bamsan sector. In his address, Sharma alleged that under Chief Minister Sukkhu’s leadership, the state government has focused more on benefiting close associates than on the welfare and resolution of public issues. Since taking oath, over one and a half years have passed, yet there have been no tangible outcomes from Sukkhu’s electoral assurances. The BJP spokesperson claimed that the public had anticipated the chief minister to fulfill his ten guarantees promptly; however, now people feel that the Sukkhu government has prioritized benefits for its allies over fulfilling promises made to the public.
Sharma further accused the Congress party, which leads in extolling democracy, of overlooking democratic traditions in Himachal Pradesh by granting cabinet ranks to its allies. He mentioned that the state can accommodate only 12 cabinet rank positions, yet the Sukkhu government has bestowed this rank upon nearly 30 individuals, most of whom are closely associated with the chief minister. Many of these individuals are even incapable of winning a ward panchayat election, which has weakened public confidence in democracy and raised questions about the government.
Expressing concern, Sharma noted that Himachal Pradesh is facing financial crises due to unnecessary expenditures and mounting debts under the Sukkhu government’s rule. He stated that the state is burdened with debts amounting to one lakh crore rupees, exacerbated by the government’s increasing unnecessary expenses and additional borrowing. These policies are detrimental to the state’s long-term development and economic stability.
Sharma concluded by stating that the public is discontented with the Sukkhu government’s practices. He emphasized that people are increasingly aware that the government has failed to fulfill its promises and is focused solely on serving its interests. This public sentiment may heavily impact the Congress party in the upcoming elections, making them bear the consequences of this dissatisfaction.
BJP’s chief spokesperson Ranbir Sharma launched a scathing attack on the policies and functioning of the Sukkhu government, accusing them of working against public interest and in favor of allies. He urged the government to fulfill its promises and work for the welfare of the people of the state. Sharma asserted that BJP stands with the people and is always vigilant in defending their rights and interests.
