Shimla,Dec 14 : BJP’s Himachal Pradesh media in-charge, Karn Nanda, criticized Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over a viral video where the CM allegedly discussed serving jungle fowl at an official event. Nanda questioned the message the CM is sending to the public, particularly the youth, by joking about serving a protected bird listed under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and its 2022 amendment.

Nanda stated that jungle fowl is a Schedule I species under the Act, and any attempt to hunt or consume it is a punishable offense. He accused the CM of promoting poaching through his comments and questioned the government’s commitment to enforcing wildlife protection laws.

Drawing parallels to the earlier controversy over “samosas,” Nanda expressed concerns about potential misuse of investigative agencies to target whistleblowers who recorded the incident. He mocked the CM’s claims of being the first leader to spend a night in remote areas, alleging that such visits were mere publicity stunts with no tangible benefits for the public.

Nanda called for a public apology from the CM and his team for the embarrassing incident, which he claimed has tarnished the state’s reputation. He warned of legal consequences under the Wildlife Protection Act and suggested that animal rights activists might pursue legal action independently.
