Hamirpur, Oct 30 – With thirty-two candidates left in the fray for five assembly seats of the Hamirpur district, the situation has emerged crystal clear with the ruling BJP facing rebellion in three out of five assembly seats of the district namely Hamirpur and Badsar. Nine candidates are left in the field from the Hamirpur seat. The main fight is between Narendra Thakur of the BJP, Dr. Pushpendra Verma of the Congress party, and Ashish Sharma, an independent. Others who are left in the fray are Dr. Kashmir Singh Thakur CPI (M), Praveen Kaushal (BSP), Abhinay Bhardwaj of National Devbhoomi Party, Sushil Kumar Saroch (Aam Aadmi Party), Ashish Kumar and Naresh Kumar Darji, both Independents. Darji is the vice chairman of Hamirpur Zila Parishad and claims himself to be a confidant of former Chief Minister, PK Dhumal. From the Badsar assembly segment, Maya Sharma of the BJP is facing rebellion from Sanjeev Sharma, the elder brother of late Rakesh Babli of the BJP. Others in the field are Inder Dutt Lakhanpal Indian National Congress, Ratan Chand Katoch BSP, Gulshan Soni Aam Aadmi Party, Naresh Kumar National Devbhoomi Party, and, Paramjit Dhatwalia Himachal Jankranti Party. Maya Sharma is the wife of district BJP chief, Baldev Sharma, who is also the former MLA. From Bhoranj (reserve) constituency, five candidates are left in the fray and they are Dr. Anil Dhiman of the BJP, Suresh Kumar of the Congress party, Jarnail Singh of BSP, and Pawan Kumar, an independent. Dr. Dhiman is the son of the Late ID Dhiman, the six timer MLA of the constituency. From this seat, the BJP is facing the rebellion of Pawan Kumar, who is a Zila Parishad member and wields much hold in the constituency. From the Sujanpur seat, there are five candidates are in the field, Rajendra Rana of the Congress party is facing Captain Ranjit Singh of BJP, Gian Chand of BSP, Anil Rana of Aam Admi party, and Rajesh Kumar, an independent. This seat is a prestige seat for the BJP and Congress parties both. Rana is two timer MLA whereas Captain Ranjit Singh is having the full blessings of the former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, PK Dhumal. Similarly, from Nadaun’s seat, six candidates are now left in the field with Congress stalwart Sukhvinder Singh Sukhoo facing Vijay Agnihotri of the BJP. Others in the electoral battle are Deshraj BSP, Shanky Thukral (Aam Aadmi Party), Surendra Kumar Gautam Independent, and Ranjit Singh (Independent). With the finalisation of the final list of the candidates, leaders and workers of all parties and the independents have fanned out in the field to manage the support of the people of the district. Since women are in the majority in the district and they used to play a major role in all the elections, their role is vital in the November 12 polling, and in whose favor they cast their votes, he/she is going to win the elections this time. While BJP is mainly banking upon the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the development of the state as its major election plank, the Congress party is criticizing the BJP for ignoring the people in the field of jobs to the unemployed people, lawlessness, and not granting of the old pension scheme to its employees. The party has clarified that it would introduce an old pension scheme to employees once it was voted to power. Similarly, the Aam Admi party has also assured the people that if it was voted to power it would give them an old pension scheme; provide better health and educational facilities for which people used to cry time and again. Now when just eleven days are left for the polling, the BJP, the Congress party, and the AAP have decided to field their top leaders in the fray in all parts of the state in general and Hamirpur in particular as Hamirpur is considered to be the bastion of the BJP earlier. The BJP has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister, Amit Shah, Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, and other top leaders to address the people and get their support for the party. For the Congress party, Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are going to address the rallies in Hamirpur and the AAP campaign will be spearheaded by its Chief Ministers of Delhi and Punjab, Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Maan respectively. With the people still maintaining silence to date it is to be seen in whose favour they cast their votes to form a new government in the state.
