BJP Criticizes Himachal Govt Over Healthcare Facilities
1 min read
Mandi, March 7: BJP chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal on Saturday criticized the state government over the condition of healthcare services in Himachal Pradesh, alleging that hospitals lack basic facilities while the government is promoting expensive projects like robotic surgery.
Jamwal said many hospitals in the state are facing a shortage of doctors and technical staff, and in some cases even radiology departments remain non-functional. He claimed that essential diagnostic services such as MRI scans and cath lab facilities are either unavailable or delayed, causing inconvenience to patients.
Referring to the recently announced robotic surgery unit at Nerchowk Medical College, Jamwal questioned the move, stating that such advanced facilities would benefit only a limited section of people if basic healthcare infrastructure and staffing issues are not addressed first. He also alleged that robotic surgery procedures are not covered under schemes like Himcare and Ayushman Bharat, which may limit access for common patients.
The BJP leader urged the state government to focus on strengthening basic medical services, filling vacancies of doctors and staff, and clearing pending payments under health insurance schemes to ensure better healthcare access for the public.
