Bio-Control Awareness Camp Held in Bangana, Orchardists Introduced to Eco-Friendly Farming Techniques

Una, February 26: The Horticulture Department organised a one-day awareness camp on bio-control techniques in Bangana block under the National Agriculture Development Scheme, in collaboration with the Bio-Control Laboratory, Shimla. Around 50 orchardists participated in the programme chaired by Deputy Director Horticulture Dr. K.K. Bhardwaj. Experts encouraged farmers to adopt biological and environmentally friendly pest management methods as an alternative to chemical pesticides to reduce production costs and improve income. Dr. Virender Verma briefed participants on the use of beneficial insects, traps, and friendly fungi, along with demonstrations on preparing low-cost fruit fly traps. Officials and local representatives also attended the session.
