Testament to Grit & Glory

Shimla August 09 :Marking the 166th Founder’s Day, Bishop Cotton School’s 26th Mountaineering Expedition achieved a proud milestone by conquering Mt. Kiagar Ri in Ladakh. The nine-member team, led by seasoned mountaineers Mr. Amod Talwalkar and Mr. Viresh Kumar Dogra, included seven students and two staff members.

After acclimatizing in Leh with treks to Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Tsemo Monastery, and Khardung La, the team set up base camp at 4,650 m. Medical challenges from Acute Mountain Sickness tested their resolve, but Mr. Dogra and three students pressed forward, summiting at dawn on August 4 after a six-and-a-half-hour climb.

Their return was met with celebration, followed by cultural exploration of Ladakh’s spiritual and natural treasures. This expedition not only honored the school’s adventurous legacy but also showcased resilience, teamwork, and leadership in the face of extreme conditions.
