Banks Urged to Ensure Welfare Schemes Reach the Needy: Anupam Kashyap

The quarterly District-Level Review Committee meeting of lead banks was held under the chairmanship of Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap. Banks were urged to raise awareness about government schemes and focus on promoting self-employment. Kashyap emphasized the need for financial literacy camps to be scheduled on accessible days to maximize attendance. He highlighted the importance of strengthening communication between banks and beneficiaries to foster trust and better utilization of schemes.

Reports on various schemes revealed that under the PM Jan Dhan Yojana, 2,08,065 accounts have been opened with ₹191.31 crore deposits. PM Mudra Yojana recorded 4,863 loan applications, and 712 financial literacy camps were organized. Social security schemes, including PMJJBY, PMSBY, and Atal Pension Yojana, saw significant enrollments.
