Awareness campaign on prevention of child sexual offences

Shoolini University’s Legal Aid Committee of Faculty of Legal Sciences organised an awareness campaign on Preventing Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) at Padmashree N.N. Mohan Geeta Adarsh Vidhyalya in Solan.
The POCSO awareness campaign is part of a series of campaigns to raise awareness about POCSO. The goal of these campaigns is to teach people about the laws, rules, and guidelines that protect children from sexual offences and to encourage students to know their rights and responsibilities.
The Faculty Coordinators of the committee, Ms. Poonam Pant and Mr. Vineet Kumar, hosted the event. Ms. Poonam Pant, Assistant Professor, delivered a welcome speech and thanked the Principal of the school, Ms. Sneh Sharma, for her kind consideration and time to allow this awareness campaign at the school.
Ms. Sneh Sharma, Principal, Padmashree N.N. Mohan Geeta Adarsh Vidhyalya, Solan delivered a welcome speech for the Faculty of Legal Science, Shoolini University. She praised the department’s excellent initiative to reach out to students in order to raise awareness about POCSO laws. Ms. Sharma talked about the importance of the POCSO law and requested students to take up a project on POCSO.
Anshula Grover, student BA. LLB 3rd semester, presented a detailed overview of the POCSO Law by citing examples of abuses a child face in their day-to-day life. Rishab Sood, a fifth semester LL.B student, spoke about the procedural aspects of POCSO law and other related laws that protect the complainant.
Ms. Mukul Rani, Assistant Professor, explained the places and circumstances under which children face sexual abuse.
Ms. Palak Sharma, Assistant Professor, hosted the POCSO Quiz Competition 2022 series. The students enthusiastically participated and won 10 exciting gift kits from Shoolini University.
Mr. Vineet Kumar, Assistant Professor Law, delivered a vote of thanks and thanked Ms. Sneh Sharma, who actively attended and participated in the programme.
Dr. Nandan Sharma, Associate Dean, Faculty of Legal Sciences, directed the Legal Aid Committee to regularly conduct a series of POCSO Awareness at Solan. He assured that the Committee and the students would continue to provide free legal aid to the people as per the Legal Service Authority Act.
