Army Training Command Commemorates 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas at Shimla

Shimla, July 25, 2024: The Army Training Command, headquartered in Shimla, celebrated the ‘Kargil Vijay Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav’ on July 24-25, 2024, at The Ridge, Shimla, marking 25 years since the victory in the Kargil War. The events were inaugurated by Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Army Training Command, in a solemn ceremony.

The celebration featured various attractions, including stalls displaying Army weapons and equipment, a ‘KNOW YOUR ARMY’ exhibition, and motivational and awareness stalls. The audience was captivated by military martial music, video clips on Kargil Vijay Diwas, and poetry recitations by children. A free medical camp organized by MH Shimla provided medical check-ups for over 200 civilians and veterans.

The Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, felicitated the participants. The event was attended by civil dignitaries, central and state government officials, veterans, school and college students, NCC cadets, and the local population. This day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers during the Kargil conflict with Pakistan.

As a tribute to this significant victory, eight Veer Naris and four Kargil veterans were also felicitated.
