Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, visited Sainik School Sujanpur Tira on Tuesday,16 Dec, 2025. A highly decorated officer of the Indian Army,Gen Katiyar is an alumnus of Sainik School Ghorakhal, National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He was commissioned into the 23rd Battalion of the Rajput Regiment in June 1986 and has served with distinction in key operational areas, including the Siachen Glacier, the Line of Control, and the Line of Actual Control.
On his arrival at the school, Lt Gen Katiyar was accorded a warm welcome by the Principal, Sainik School Sujanpur Tira and her team. On the occasion Lt Gen Rajan Sharawat GOC,9 Corps and Maj Gen Anil Chandel, COS,HQ 9 corps were also present. The visiting General Officer was given a detailed presentation by the school authorities highlighting the academic, administrative, and training aspects of the institution. He also inspected the school hostels and interacted with the cadets.
Addressing the cadets, General Katiyar emphasised importance of hard work, discipline, and unwavering dedication, describing them as the core values required to join and serve in the Armed Forces. Drawing from his long and illustrious military career, he motivated the cadets to remain focused and committed to their goals. The visit proved to be highly motivating and memorable, reinforcing the school’s mission of nurturing future leaders of the Armed Forces.
