Apple Growers’ Union Protests Alleged Eviction Drive in Jubbal

Action Halted After Public Opposition

Shimla, February 21, 2026: The Himachal Apple Growers’ Union strongly opposed an alleged eviction drive in Mandal Panchayat (Jakhod village, Ramnagri Chak) of Jubbal subdivision, claiming it violated the Supreme Court’s December 16, 2025 directions. Union members and local residents staged a protest, after which the department reportedly stopped the action. The union alleged that notices were issued via WhatsApp and eviction proceedings began within three days without completing due legal process or citing specific legal provisions. It further claimed that the move went against Forest Rights Act provisions and policy directions issued to the state government. The organisation has appealed to people to attend its Jubbal unit conference at Hatkoti to discuss farmers’ rights and policy concerns.
