Himachal Pradesh, December 20, 2025:

Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur stated that eight major public-interest bills were passed during the Winter Session of Parliament, marking significant progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Thakur said the NDA government remains committed to national welfare, cultural preservation, and inclusive development. Among the important bills cleared by the Lok Sabha was the ‘Viksit Bharat – Jee Ram Ji Bill, 2025’, along with the Sustainable Expansion of Nuclear Energy (Peaceful Use) Bill, 2025, the Insurance Laws Amendment Bill, 2025, and the Appropriation Bill related to Supplementary Demands for Grants 2025-26.

He added that the House also passed the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2025, which eliminates or updates 71 obsolete laws. Additional bills approved included the Manipur GST (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, Central Excise Amendment Bill, 2025, and the Health Security to National Security Cess Bill, 2025 introducing a cess on pan masala.

Thakur criticised the Opposition’s conduct, stating that despite disruptions, the government continued to prioritise legislation serving public needs. He also accused the Congress of displaying open hostility towards Vande Mataram, questioning the mentality of opposing a patriotic symbol that inspired India’s freedom fighters.
