Nadaun, May 18, 2024: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu criticized Union Minister Anurag Thakur for his inability to secure approval for the railway line over the past decade. Speaking to journalists in Nadaun, CM Sukhu highlighted that despite constant promises, Thakur has not achieved any progress, including securing approval or conducting a survey for the railway line. Sukhu stated that the Congress government never promised a budget for the railway line and accused Thakur of misleading the public with empty promises, allocating just ₹1,000 each year in the budget. He challenged Thakur to explain why he deceived the public for ten years.
CM Sukhu also addressed the decreasing interest among youth from Kangra, Hamirpur, and Mandi parliamentary constituencies in joining the armed forces, questioning the BJP’s Agniveer scheme, which offers only four-year service terms. He accused the BJP of ignoring critical issues and instead diverting attention to bolster their political agenda. Sukhu emphasized the need for BJP to answer why they are jeopardizing the future of young aspirants.
Highlighting the Congress government’s achievements, Sukhu mentioned the establishment of a medical college in Hamirpur and the approval of a cancer hospital. He praised the government’s efforts in providing relief during disasters, reinstating the old pension scheme for employees, and fulfilling the promise of ₹1,500 for women. He accused the BJP of pressuring the Election Commission to halt this scheme but assured that the pending two-month installment would be disbursed post-elections.
Sukhu announced that prominent national leaders of Congress, including MPs Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, and National President Mallikarjun Kharge, would soon visit Himachal Pradesh. He accused the BJP of attempting to grab power by purchasing six MLAs, thus betraying public trust. Sukhu affirmed that the people would respond on June 1, predicting a Congress victory in all four Lok Sabha seats and the six assembly by-elections.
