Anurag Slams Congress for Ending Him Care Scheme: ‘A Betrayal of Public Trust’
2 min read29 July 2024, Himachal Pradesh: Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur has criticized the Himachal Pradesh Congress government for its decision to discontinue the Him Care Card in private hospitals. Thakur condemned this move, describing it as the arrogant Congress government snatching away the support from the people.
Thakur stated, “The current Congress government in Himachal is a failure and arrogant. In its 19-month tenure, it has no achievements of its own and is instead undermining the good work done by the BJP, playing with the interests of the people. In 2019, during the BJP’s tenure, the Him Care Scheme was launched to provide cashless treatment to those excluded from the Ayushman Bharat scheme, benefiting millions. The ability to get treatment in private hospitals was a boon for the people, but the Congress government has made a dictatorial decision to end this facility in private hospitals, depriving the people of their support.”
He further added, “Medical services in Himachal are deteriorating under the Congress government. Patients are facing immense difficulties even for facilities like dialysis in government hospitals. Previously, patients who were dissatisfied with government services could turn to private hospitals through the Him Care scheme, which provided cashless treatment up to ₹5 lakh. This scheme was operational in 141 private and 292 government hospitals within and outside Himachal Pradesh. Due to Congress’s poor economic management, another public welfare scheme by the BJP has been sacrificed.”
Thakur continued, “Whenever Congress comes to power in Himachal, development stalls and corruption increases. Since coming into power, the Congress government has stopped development projects out of malice. Despite taking a loan of ₹25,000 crore, increasing the state’s debt to ₹95,000 crore, Congress has provided nothing to the people but has shut down health institutions, educational centers, and benefits like school uniforms and worker facilities. Congress needs to explain what the people did to deserve this.”
