Shimla Feb 02 2026: Anurag Singh Thakur has criticized the Himachal Pradesh government for blaming the Centre over the discontinuation of Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG). Speaking in Shimla, he said the 16th Finance Commission has actually increased Himachal’s share in central tax devolution by around ₹2,388 crore. Thakur explained that RDG was a temporary support mechanism and was withdrawn due to persistent fiscal mismanagement by states, including high deficits and low revenue efforts. He emphasized that the Centre continues to support Himachal through higher devolution and targeted financial instruments.
