Shimla July 02 : Himachal Pradesh Minister Anirudh Singh responded publicly for the first time following allegations of assault on NHAI officials, including Manager Anchal Jindal. Addressing the media in Shimla, Singh raised serious concerns about the functioning of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), blaming its unscientific construction practices for multiple deaths and extensive property loss in the state.
He accused NHAI officials of negligence and alleged a nexus between contractors, NHAI officials, and the central government that focuses only on compensation while ignoring real accountability. Singh also criticized Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and called for a national policy to fix responsibility for damages caused during highway construction. He questioned, “How many people received compensation? How many homes were destroyed? Does anyone have an estimate?”
