AHS Boys Signs MOU for Campus Safety with NGO DOERS

2 min read

Shimla, 25 July 2025: In a landmark move towards school safety, Auckland House School for Boys has become the first institution of its kind in Shimla to formally sign an MoU with DOERS – a leading NGO specializing in disaster preparedness and emergency response training.

The initiative, guided by Principal Reuben John, aims to not just educate but safeguard every individual within the school community. Speaking on the occasion, Principal John said, “While education remains our primary goal, I believe safety is its foundation. A school must be a secure space for all — students, staff, and visitors alike.”

Last year, DOERS conducted an impactful session on disaster management at the school. The outcomes prompted the leadership to go beyond one-off awareness sessions and integrate disaster readiness into the school culture through a more result-oriented, sustainable plan. This MoU is an extension of that vision, focusing on building a mindset of attentiveness, responsibility, and collective safety.

The school, in collaboration with DOERS, will now undertake structured training programs for students, teachers, and support staff, ensuring readiness in the face of natural or manmade disasters. The plan aligns with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and is a step forward in community resilience building.
