Hamirpur, December 23, 2025:
Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh said that measures are being taken to improve traffic flow and rectify accident-prone locations in and around Hamirpur town. Chairing a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee, he informed that ₹8 crore will be spent on repairing and strengthening the Pakka Bharo to Kohli road, including junction improvements and identification of traffic bottlenecks. Provision is also being made for the construction of footpaths at various locations.

The DC directed officials from the PWD, National Highways, Transport, Police and Health Departments to ensure strict implementation of the State Road Safety Policy.

He also stressed the need to widely publicise the cashless treatment facility for road accident victims. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, accident victims can receive cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh in empanelled hospitals if admitted within 24 hours of the accident, with treatment coverage for up to seven days. Hospitals cannot deny admission, and further information is available through the National Health Authority helpline 14555.
