Chamba, April 4, 2025 – In a remarkable display of collective determination, the youth of Udaipur Gram Panchayat, near the district headquarters, have transformed 150 bighas of barren land into a fully functional sports ground. This initiative has provided local youth with opportunities to engage in various sports activities while setting an inspiring example of community-driven development.
According to Rakesh Kapoor, president of the Udaipur Youth Sports Club, the initiative was fueled by a shared passion for sports and a commitment to keeping youth away from substance abuse. Beginning five years ago as a small effort, it has now become a major success, thanks to the collective support of the entire village and government schemes.
Currently, about 70% of the construction is complete, with the field already being used for cricket and other sports. The project received a major boost when MLA Neeraj Nayyar, along with the Deputy Commissioner and other officials, visited the site last month. Recognizing the efforts of the youth, the administration approved a funding of ₹54 lakh to expedite the remaining work.
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal lauded the efforts of the Udaipur Youth Sports Club, calling it an outstanding example of community participation and government collaboration. He emphasized that this sports ground would not only promote athletics but also contribute to youth empowerment and community cohesion. Encouraging similar initiatives, he urged Panchayati Raj representatives to take inspiration from this success story for holistic rural development.
