Natural Farming Drives Success: 4000 Quintals of Maize Procured, Says C. Palrasu
1 min readHamirpur, December 10: Agriculture and Horticulture Department Secretary C. Palrasu highlighted the state government’s efforts to promote natural farming on a large scale. Speaking at a farmer fair organized by the ATMA project in Sera village, he revealed that the government has procured 4000 quintals of maize cultivated through natural farming at ₹30 per kg, with wheat fetching ₹40 per kg.
Palrasu shared that around 2 lakh farmers in Himachal Pradesh have adopted natural farming, moving away from chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Currently, approximately 36,000 hectares of land in the state is under natural farming.
He further stated that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is prioritizing income enhancement for rural communities, with a special focus on natural farming. The Chief Minister has also increased milk prices and directed the organization of farmer fairs under the Natural Farming, Prosperous Farmers Scheme in every assembly constituency to maximize outreach and benefits.
ATMA project officials, including Director Dr. Nitin Sharma and Deputy Directors Dr. Rajesh Kumar and Dr. Rakesh Dhiman, shared the achievements of natural farming in Hamirpur district and extended a warm welcome to the attendees.
