New Congress Executive to Prioritize Women and Youth: State President Pratibha Singh
1 min readHimachal Pradesh Congress President Pratibha Singh announced that the new executive committee will be formed with the consensus of senior leaders, emphasizing that it will not be extensive and will prioritize women and youth. Singh, advocating for the “one man-one post” principle, stated that leaders should not hold positions both within the party and the organization. Discussions will also be held with senior leaders on the necessity of having working presidents in the new executive.
During a press conference at Rajiv Bhavan in Shimla on Thursday, Pratibha Singh highlighted that deliberations would also focus on assigning either a government or organizational role to leaders and whether working presidents are needed. Both she and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had jointly requested the high command to dissolve the state, district, and block executives to restructure the organization with committed and loyal members.
On Wednesday, the Congress dissolved all state, district, and block executives in Himachal Pradesh, with Singh pointing out that several office bearers were inactive, especially those added during the assembly elections. Moving forward, active leaders who contribute to organizational strength will be included, with input from senior leaders like Chief Minister Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, former ministers Thakur Kaul Singh, and Ram Lal Thakur.
Singh assured that the new executive would represent all regions of the state, avoiding an excessive concentration of office bearers. She mentioned that she was unable to implement significant changes after her appointment in April 2022 due to the structure at the time.
