New AI & Data Science Course to Start at Rajiv Gandhi Government Engineering College, Kangra
1 min readShimla, October 1, 2024: The Finance Department has given its concurrence for the introduction of a new Computer Science & Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science) course at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Engineering College, Kangra at Nagrota Bagwan. This development aligns with the state’s focus on promoting advanced technical education and enhancing job opportunities in emerging fields.
The new course will be supported by the creation of several academic and technical posts. As per the proposal, these posts will be filled in a phased manner between the academic years 2024 to 2026, subject to approval by the Council of Ministers (CMM) and the completion of necessary formalities.
Proposed Staffing Plan:
1. Professor (2024-25) – Filled through promotion.
2. Associate Professors (2025-26) – One post through promotion (2025) and another through direct recruitment (2026).
3. Assistant Professor (2025-26) – To be filled via recruitment in 2025.
4. Laboratory Technician (2025) – Filled through promotion.
The introduction of this course is expected to provide students in the region with access to cutting-edge education in AI and Data Science, while simultaneously creating faculty opportunities in one of the most in-demand disciplines.
