THDC Signs Landmark MoU with Maharashtra for 6,790 MW of Pumped Storage Projects Worth ₹33,600 Crores
2 min readRishikesh, 03.09.2024: THDC India Limited has inked a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Water Resources, Government of Maharashtra (GoMWRD), for the development of six Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) in Maharashtra, with a total capacity of 6,790 MW and an investment of over ₹33,600 crores. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, who also holds portfolios for Home, Law, Water Resources, and Energy. This initiative represents a major leap forward in Maharashtra’s renewable energy infrastructure.

– **Projects and Capacity**: The six projects include the Malshej Ghat PSP (700 MW), Aruna PSP (1950 MW), Kharari PSP (1250 MW), Humbarli Birmani PSP (1000 MW), Aruna Kolamb PSP (1200 MW), and Morawadi Majarewadi PSP (690 MW).
– **Strategic Importance**: These projects will enhance Maharashtra’s power grid reliability and stability, contribute significantly to the state’s renewable energy goals, and generate extensive socio-economic benefits, including approximately 30 lakh man-hours of employment annually during construction.
