FCA Committee Meeting Chaired by DC Shimla
2 min readShimla, August 22, 2024: A meeting of the District Forest Conservation Act (FCA) Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap. The meeting focused on 156 cases related to FCA, discussing them division-wise in detail.
Out of these 156 cases, several are pending at various levels, including User Agency, DFO, Nodal Officer, Regional Officer, and the State Government. The pending cases are distributed as follows: 63 in Shimla Urban Division, 59 in Shimla Rural Division, 12 in Theog Division, 9 in Rohru Division, 7 each in Rampur, Chopal, and Kotgarh Divisions.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the urgent need to resolve these pending cases to accelerate development projects. He directed the concerned departmental officials to take necessary steps to expedite the resolution of these matters. Additionally, he stressed that cases that need to be withdrawn should be processed quickly to avoid pending cases on the portal.
The delay in resolving these cases adversely affects the development of the district and the state. He instructed all relevant departments to hold internal meetings to assess the actual status of each case and prepare for the next meeting, where a clear action plan will be discussed.
The DC highlighted the importance of bringing strategically significant development projects to fruition as soon as possible. Delays not only impede progress but also increase the cost of these projects, causing financial losses to the government.
Discussing the Shimla Ropeway project, the Deputy Commissioner noted its significance for the city, with 13 stations planned under the project. He urged officials to expedite the FCA process to ensure the timely completion of the ropeway, which is expected to provide substantial benefits to Shimla.
The meeting was conducted by Divisional Forest Officer (Headquarters) Saroj Verma and attended by various DFOs, Forest Department officials, and officers from other departments.
