In a concerning revelation, 59 medicines manufactured in Himachal Pradesh are among the 188 drugs across India that have failed to meet quality standards, according to the latest drug alert issued by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and State Drug Authorities. These include 44 drugs from Solan, 13 from Sirmaur, and one each from Una and Kangra districts.
The failed samples include antibiotics, anti-diabetics, BP medication, pain relievers, cancer drugs, and vitamin supplements. Alarmingly, samples of Methotrexate injection (used for cancer and psoriasis), manufactured in Mumbai, and Docetaxel (used for stomach and breast cancer), made in Shanghai, China, have also failed tests.
Three drugs were found to be counterfeit: Taxim-O 200 (used for ENT infections), Thrombophob (anti-clotting agent), and Rosuvastatin F-10 (cholesterol control).
Authorities have issued notices to the respective drug manufacturers and will begin withdrawing these substandard medicines from the market.
