Unique Theme for 14th Voter’s Day Celebration

Shimla, January 15:* The 14th National Voter’s Day will be celebrated at Gaiety Theatre in Shimla on January 25, with the theme “Vote Jaisa Kuch Nahi, Vote Zaroor Dalenge Hum” (Nothing like a vote; we will cast our vote). Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma, presiding over a meeting related to the National Voter’s Day celebration, provided details about the event.

As part of the celebration, an EVM/VVPAT demonstration center will be set up at the Gaiety Theatre. An exhibition showcasing the election process and LED displays will be arranged to inform the public. Additionally, a voter facilitation center will be established, offering facilities for new and existing voters to register and update their details.

Special recognition and state awards will be presented during the program for outstanding electoral initiatives. District Magistrate Bhanu Gupta, SDM Urban Nishant Kumar, and Tehsildar Election Rajendra Sharma were present at the occasion.

In light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma instructed officials to ensure the 100% registration of new voters completing 18 years of age. He emphasized the need to increase the registration rate for eligible voters aged 20 to 29. Instructions were also given to match departmental data for voters with disabilities aged 18 and above to ensure their inclusion in the voter list.

Verma highlighted that Election Pathfinder activities would be conducted every first Saturday of the month, and activities of the Voter Literacy Club would be held every third Saturday in every polling center and educational institution. The objective is to enhance voter awareness and promote electoral literacy.
