Hamirpur, Feb 02 2026
Rajeshwar Parmar said that fruit production in Hamirpur has increased significantly, reaching around 2,200 metric tonnes in 2025, with horticulture area expanding to nearly 8,100 hectares. Under initiatives like the HP SHIVA Project and Horticulture Technology Mission, large-scale plantation of citrus, guava, mango, litchi, and pomegranate is being promoted.

To support farmers and prevent post-harvest losses, the Horticulture Department is encouraging the construction of cold storage units by offering a 50% subsidy. Officials said cold storages will help growers store produce during peak harvest seasons and sell it later at better prices. The district aims to increase fruit production to about 5,000 metric tonnes by 2030.
