4th National Pharmacovigilance Week celebrated at Shoolini University

The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Shoolini University celebrated the 4th National Pharmacovigilance Week from September 16 to 24 under the theme “Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety.”
The event aimed to raise awareness on the significance of Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting in safeguarding patient health.
A highlight of the week was an online webinar featured discussions on key topics such as the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PVPI) and the Materiovigilance Programme of India (MVPI). The key speakers included Prof. Bikash Medhi, Dr. Ajay Prakash, and Dr. Sandhya from the Department of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, who shared their insights and expertise on the vital role of pharmacovigilance in healthcare.
On the occasion the pharmacy faculty and students organised an awareness campaign at the Health Center, Shoolini University. The campaign focused on educating the public about the importance of ADR reporting and its potential impact on patient safety.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Deepak Kapoor, Professor and Dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, emphasised the importance of pharmacovigilance in ensuring the responsible use of medicines and protecting public health.
Throughout the week, several engaging activities took place, including digital flyer and poster creation, as well as extempore presentations by pharmacy students to further advocate for pharmacovigilance awareness.
The programme coordinator, Dr. Raveen Chauhan, said that the aim of event was to guide students on the adverse effects of commonly prescribed drugs and stressed the importance of ADR reporting by both healthcare professionals and patients, which helps in identifying safety issues and contributes to the development of safer medicines.
