47,390 volunteers are currently undergoing disaster management training, focusing on minimizing human and property loss during disasters. During the 8th meeting of H.P. State Disaster Management Authority, there was a discussion about preparedness and mitigation for natural disasters. The government stressed the importance of proactive steps and the need for a robust technology system for weather predictions to reduce losses. Automatic weather systems are proposed for snow-bound areas to improve climate forecasting.

Monitoring of moraine-dammed lakes formed due to glacier melting is ongoing. The government highlighted the necessity of developing a system to predict cloud bursts and called for a study on the increasing number of such incidents. Guidelines for water release from dams during rainy seasons, capacity building through training, and strengthening the civil defense structure were emphasized.

Additionally, plans to earthquake-proof Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools were mentioned. Himachal Pradesh faces various hazards like earthquakes, landslides, floods, and cloudbursts, necessitating regular monitoring and safe construction practices. Activities such as land use planning and proper infrastructure management were stressed, along with identifying hill slope cutting, muck, and debris points, as well as focusing on drainage systems.
