Insect Photography Competition Held At Nauni Univ

An Entomology club was established at the Department of Entomology of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. The club will coordinate various non-academic activities, functions and scientific disclosure of information and conduct lectures of alumni and experts on various topics related to entomology and other disciplines. It will provide a platform for students to represent themselves by conducting quizzes, photography competitions, brainstorming sessions, cultural and social activities.
Earlier this week, the newly established club organized a prize distribution ceremony for the Insect Photography Competition 2023. Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The President of the club Dr. RK Thakur welcomed the Chief Guest and informed about the foundation of the club, its objectives and future prospectus and various activities planned for the future. Dr. Manish Sharma, Dean, College of Horticulture also addressed the club members. Prof Chandel congratulated the winners and applauded the efforts of the entomology department. He also emphasized on collaboration with other departments and the inclusion of nearby villages for conducting future club activities.
The Chief Guest distributed awards to the winners of the Insect Photography Competition 2023. Ritul Bhardwaj, a student of BSc (Horticulture) from the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Thunag was awarded the first prize. Parul Saini of BSc (Horticulture) from COH Nauni and Shagun Sharma from M Sc (Biotechnology) from COH Nauni bagged the second and third prizes respectively. In addition, consolation prizes were awarded to Babita Kaushal and Priyanka Rani.
