₹33 Lakh Crore Disbursed Under MUDRA Yojana in 10 Years: Anurag Singh Thakur

April 8, 2025 – Himachal Pradesh: Former Union Minister and MP from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, hailed the 10-year milestone of the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY), highlighting that over ₹33 lakh crore has been disbursed through 52 crore loans, significantly transforming lives across India.

Thakur credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership for the success of the scheme, which was launched on April 8, 2015, to provide financial assistance to economically weaker sections, especially from SC, ST, and OBC communities. He noted that nearly 70% of the loans were given to women entrepreneurs, enabling them to become self-reliant and contributing to the rise of job creators over job seekers.

He further mentioned that recently, the loan limit under PMMY has been increased from ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh, reinforcing the government’s commitment to self-employment and entrepreneurship. The International Monetary Fund (IMF), in its 2024 report, also acknowledged PMMY’s significant impact in improving financial inclusion and fostering grassroots entrepreneurship in India.
