2nd May declared as a Public Holiday

A spokesman of the State Government informed here today that 2nd May, 2023 has been declared as a “Public Holiday” in the area of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) of the State By-Elections to be held to fill-up the casual vacancies. He said that it would be a Public Holiday only in case if poll is held.
He said that all Government offices, Boards, Corporations, Educational Institutions and Industrial establishments situated in the Himachal Pradesh under Industrial Disputes Act and shops would remain closed on the said date in the areas of above concerned Institutions where By-Elections for PRIs are scheduled to be held. This would also be a paid holidays to daily wages employees and also within the meaning of Section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act 1881, he added.
He clarified that special casual leave may be given to those employees who were working in different places in the State but have a right to vote in concerned institutions where the By-Elections of PRIs was scheduled to be held on the production of certificate from the concerned Presiding Officer that the employees has actually cast his/her vote.
