2nd International Samanvay Mediation Competition: A Testament to University’s Commitment to ADR

Under the leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (officiating), Professor Chanchal Kumar Singh, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, successfully hosted the 2nd International Samanvay Mediation Competition. This year’s event, inspired by the newly enacted Mediation Act 2023, highlights the University’s dedication to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Building on the success of the inaugural competition, the University has been actively fostering mediation talent through its Center for ADR.

A total of 33 teams participated, including international teams from Singapore and Colombo, and national teams from across India. The competition featured highly esteemed assessors from renowned institutions such as MGM Legal, CAM, the ICC, and SAMA, including Mr. El Akra Djamel, Ms. Sanjana Srivastava, Dr. Hepzibah Beulah, and Mr. Litson Stephen. Their expertise was crucial in evaluating the skills of the participants.

In the opening ceremony, Professor Chanchal Kumar Singh emphasized the University’s commitment to advancing ADR and fostering a culture of peaceful dispute resolution. He applauded the dedication of the participants in honing their mediation skills. Registrar Professor S.S. Jaswal, in his vote of thanks, expressed his appreciation for everyone involved and highlighted the University’s ongoing efforts to promote ADR.

The competition not only expanded the participants’ knowledge but also reinforced the University’s role in shaping future ADR professionals.
