296 Children of Single Women in Bhoreanj Benefit from Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana

Bhoreanj, September 27, 2025 — Under the leadership of SDM Shashipal Sharma, a joint sub-divisional review meeting of Women and Child Development (WCD) schemes was held on Saturday in Bhoreanj to assess the progress of various programs for women and children.

During the meeting, the SDM highlighted that the Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana, launched by the Himachal Pradesh government to support the upbringing and education of children of widows, deserted, and single women, has benefitted 296 children in Bhoreanj sub-division so far, with financial assistance exceeding ₹31.80 lakh. Additionally, 28 destitute children and youth are receiving support under the Chief Minister Sukh Aashray Yojana. Of these, nine beneficiaries have received the first installment of ₹1 lakh each for house construction, while three youths received ₹2 lakh each for marriage purposes.

Shashipal Sharma also reviewed the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign, noting activities including workshops on gender equality, awareness camps, health check-ups for adolescent girls, and recognition of three champion girls from each panchayat for outstanding achievements.

Regarding nutrition programs, he informed that through 234 Anganwadi centers, 2,528 children aged 6 months to 6 years, along with 725 pregnant and lactating women, are provided with supplementary nutrition. The SDM added that around ₹4 lakh has been disbursed so far this fiscal year under Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana, Shagun Yojana, and Widow Remarriage schemes. Seven beneficiaries under Beti Hai Anmol received ₹1.47 lakh.
