Continuing with the university’s Van Mahotsav Drive, the Departments of Fruit Science and Biotechnology at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, conducted a plantation drive on the university farms. Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice Chancellor of the university, was the Chief Guest at this event. Faculty, staff, and students from both departments participated by planting fruit trees on the university farms.

During this drive, over 250 plants, including Guava, Jujube, Litchi, Mango, and Galgal, were planted. These plants will be used to establish new orchards in the department, which will also help supplement the department’s farm income.

This year’s Van Mahotsav drive at the university started on July 6. Various departments, including those at outstation locations, have already organized plantation drives, resulting in the planting of over 3,000 plants. The focus has been on planting native tree species, ornamental trees, and fruit trees on vacant farm land. Additionally, parthenium eradication drives have been conducted to remove the weed from university farms. The campaign will conclude on August 4, marking the birth anniversary of Dr. YS Parmar.
