2 Day Tourism Conclave 2021 on “Roadmap for developing Tourism in Himachal Pradesh” From Dec.10

Shimla, Dec. 07  – Institute of Vocational Studies (Tourism), Himachal Pradesh University is hosting a Tourism conclave on “Roadmap for Developing Tourism in Himachal Pradesh”. The two-day conclave will witness discussions and conversations with government officials, alma maters, travel agents and tour operators, adventure tourism enthusiasts, home stay owners, hoteliers, academicians and other subject matter experts to highlight the current situation of the Himachal tourism industry and the immediate future with the new normal.

This is for the first time in the history of Himachal Pradesh that such a conclave is happening where the prominent tourism experts from pan India and academicians would sit together to brain storm and highlight the issues and remedies for development of tourism in Himachal. The four sub themes of the conclave are “Envisioning Tourism after COVID in Himachal”, “Enhancing Private Sector Investment for Tourism Infrastructure Building in Himachal”, Taking Tourism to Rural Areas in Himachal” and “Establishing Himachal as a Destination Brand”. Himachal Pradesh has the best resources available for being the top most tourism destination of the country be it for wellness, pilgrim, adventure, sports or nature tourism yet, has not been able to tap international tourists as much as some other states of the country do. The objective of this conclave is to boil down the solutions of bringing Himachal to the world map of top ten best tourism destinations.

The churning of ideas with the amalgamation of wisdom and creativity will be an opportunity for inquisitive thinkers to look at the present situation with a fresh perspective and a renewed mind. The university is aiming at concluding this conclave with productive suggestions in a full-fledged report that would be submitted to the government for formulation of future tourism development policies of the state. The prominent personalities gracing the conclave as panellists include Prof Chander Mohan Director – IVS, IQAC and Tribal studies institute, Vineet Mahindru, Chief Operating Officer, Leisure – Kuoni Destination Management, Sameer Mahajan Chief Executive Officer – Exotic Escapes India, Anil Atri Director – Tourism Scouts India pvt. ltd.,  Nishat Dhiman C.E.O. – Another World India, Suman Pandey Secretary/ Treasurer, PATA. and  Lokesh Bagga G.M. – Le passage to India.
