187 girls in Hamirpur received HPV vaccines

Hamirpur, April 11. As part of the HPV vaccination campaign launched to prevent cervical cancer, 187 girls aged 14-15 years were administered the HPV vaccine on Saturday at 28 hospitals and health centers across the district. With this, the number of girls vaccinated under this campaign in the district has reached 780.
On March 29th, 206 girls were vaccinated across the district at the launch of this campaign. On April 4th, 195 girls received the vaccine, and on April 5th, 192 girls received the vaccine. With the vaccination of 187 girls on Saturday, the total number of girls vaccinated against HPV in the district has reached 780.
District Health Officer Dr. Ajay Atri said that on Sunday i.e. 12th April also, HPV vaccines will be administered in 32 hospitals and health centers of the district.
He said that HPV vaccine is generally available in private hospitals at a cost of more than ten thousand rupees, but the government is giving this vaccine free of cost to provide a protective circle to girls and to save them from cervical cancer in future. He said that the risk of cervical cancer increases due to repeated infections in women. In about 99.7 percent of women suffering from cervical cancer, the reason for this is prolonged infection. According to a study, about 14 women out of one lakh women are found suffering from it. Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women after breast cancer. HPV vaccination campaign has been started to prevent this serious disease.
