10-Day Awareness Campaign for Women Launched in Shimla District

Shimla, September 2, 2025 – A 10-day special awareness campaign for women has been launched in Shimla district under the aegis of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, informed that the campaign aims to create awareness among women about their rights and benefits under centrally sponsored schemes.

As part of the campaign, programmes will be organized across various development blocks focusing on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, women empowerment, and legal as well as health awareness. On September 2, special awareness camps were held under Mission Shakti, where information on schemes such as One Stop Centre, Shakti Sadan, and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana was disseminated along with IEC material.

The campaign will cover a wide range of themes including PCPNDT Act awareness (September 3), gender sensitization in government and semi-government institutions (September 4), adolescent health under NHM (September 5), workplace safety under POSH Act (September 6), legal aid camps (September 8), skill training under PMKVY (September 9), adolescent health awareness (September 10), POCSO Act awareness through child assemblies (September 11), and orientation on non-traditional livelihood opportunities for women (September 12).

District Programme Officer Mamta Pal said that Anganwadi centres and the Sankalp Hub Empowerment for Women initiative will also be key platforms for spreading awareness on sensitive issues affecting women and girls.
