Dr. S.P. Katyal Emphasizes Food Security and Nutrition at World Food Day Painting Competition

To mark World Food Day, the State Food Commission, Himachal Pradesh, organised a Painting Competition at the Hall of Government Model (Boys) Senior Secondary School, Lalpani, Shimla.

The event was presided over by Dr. S.P. Katyal, Chairman, State Food Commission, Himachal Pradesh. In his welcome address, Dr. Katyal emphasized the importance of food security, nutrition, and minimizing food wastage to build a healthy and sustainable society. He lauded the active participation of students and teachers from various schools across Shimla.

A total of 160 students from 27 schools took part in the competition, showcasing their creativity around this year’s World Food Day theme“Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future.” Through their artwork, students expressed the importance of collaboration, sustainability, and equitable access to nutritious food.

Principal Sh. Pawan Soni and Vice Principal Smt. Shalini Thakur thanked the State Food Commission for organizing the event and highlighted the significance of collective responsibility in achieving food security and sustainable living.

Dr. Katyal announced that the prize distribution ceremony will be held soon, with cash prizes and certificates for the top three winners, and participation certificates for all participants.

The event concluded with motivational remarks from Dr. Katyal, who encouraged students to adopt healthy food habits and contribute towards a hunger-free and nutrition-secure Himachal Pradesh.
