 ₹1.92 Cr Assistance to 2,189 Beneficiaries

The Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana, launched by the Himachal Pradesh Government under the leadership of CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is transforming lives in Una district by supporting the education of children from underprivileged and distressed families.

So far, 2,189 children in Una have received financial assistance worth ₹1.92 crore, enabling continued education in households facing financial hardship due to the loss of a parent, abandonment, divorce, or disability. The scheme provides ₹1,000/month to children up to 18 years, and ₹3,000/month for students aged 18–27 pursuing higher education without hostel facilities.

Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal and ICDS District Programme Officer Narendra Kumar highlighted the scheme’s ground-level impact. Beneficiaries like Pooja Puri, Saroj Bala, and Renu Devi expressed gratitude for the timely aid, while students like Tanmay shared how the scheme saved their education after the loss of a parent.
