“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Plantation Drive Held Under Mission LiFE in Shimla

Shimla – A tree plantation campaign titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was organized under the Mission LiFE initiative by EIACP PC Hub, Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology & Environment (HIMCOSTE) at Government Senior Secondary School, Shakrah, Ghanahatti, Shimla. The event featured tree plantation, art and debate competitions, awareness lectures, and an environment rally by students and teachers to spread awareness about afforestation and environmental protection.

Mrs. Nisha Bhaluni, Deputy Director (Primary), Shimla, was the chief guest. She emphasized the importance of forests and encouraged students to nurture their planted trees. School Principal Mrs. Indu Gupta welcomed guests and highlighted the objective of increasing green cover and promoting environmental conservation.

Mrs. Priyanka Sharma, Scientific Officer and EIACP Coordinator, briefed attendees about “Mission LiFE” and encouraged adopting an eco-friendly lifestyle. Mr. Pankaj Sharma, District Science Supervisor, spoke about the vital role trees play in sustaining life and biodiversity.

Winners of various competitions were awarded by the chief guest. The event concluded with an oath taken by students to commit to the values of Mission LiFE. Teachers, students, SMC members, and representatives from HIMCOSTE including Mr. Ajay Panwar and Dr. Ritvik Chauhan were present.
