World Pharmacists Day celebrated at Shoolini University

The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Shoolini University celebrated World Pharmacists Day with a series of events dedicated to recognising and honouring pharmacists.
The theme of this year’s World Pharmacists Day, “Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs,” highlighted the vital role pharmacists play in healthcare, particularly in ensuring the availability and proper use of medical supplements.
The event began with Prof. Deepak Kapoor, Dean of Pharmaceutical Sciences, who extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, Mr. Gopal Krishan Sharma, who had served as President of the Himachal Pradesh State Pharmacy Council for 10 years and is currently the Chief Pharmacy Officer in Nalagarh. He also welcomed the guests of honour, Mr. Lalit Shalta, a drug inspector in Himachal Pradesh, and Mr. Vikas Thakur, also a drug inspector in the state.
Along with senior professors from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Prof. P.K. Khosla, Chancellor Shoolini University, faculty members, and students, the occasion was marked by the pharmacist oath-taking ceremony conducted by Prof. Kapoor.
In his address, Prof. Khosla emphasised the crucial role pharmacists play in the healthcare system, especially in the current global health landscape. He encouraged students to focus on research that benefits humanity.
The chief guest, Mr. Gopal Krishan Sharma, delivered a talk on the “Role of Pharmacists in Meeting Global Health Needs.” He shared, how pharmacists are transforming global health by empowering patients and healthcare providers.
Mr. Lalit Shalta shared insights into the challenges he faces as a Drug Inspector and spoke about his journey in the pharmacy field.
Mr. Vikas Thakur motivated students with a talk on career focus, sharing his industrial experience and offering advice on the drug inspector exam and upcoming vacancies.
In the declamation contest, Poonam Sharma from B. Pharm 1st t year claimed first prize, Anushka from M. Pharm 2nd year won second place, and Ujjwal from B. Pharm 2nd year secured third place.
In the poster-making competition, Muskan Goyal and Kristi from B. Pharm 2nd year shared the first prize, Divanshi from B. Pharm 1st year took second prize, there was a tie between Jiya and Garvit from B. Pharm 1st year, while Raja K. Anand from B. Pharm second year won third prize.
World Pharmacists Day, observed annually on September 25, serves as a global tribute to pharmacists who work tirelessly to improve public health. It is a day to recognise their indispensable contributions to healthcare and their pivotal role in meeting the world’s health needs.
