Workshop on Vartalap organised at Shoolini University

Shoolini University in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Bureau of Communication, Chandigarh, organised an event “Vartalap” on the occasion of “Hindi Diwas” and the ongoing “Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan”, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The month of September is dedicated to a cause which lays emphasis on the nutritional status of adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children from 0–6 years of age, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, popularly known as “Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan” for rural women and families living below the poverty line.
The chief guest of the event was Mrs Kritika Kulhari, Deputy Commissioner, Solan.
Chancellor Prof. PK Khosla and Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla were guests of honour, as were several other guests and speakers from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Central Bureau of Communication, Chandigarh, and Shoolini University.
Speaking on the occasion Mrs Kulhari said people should also participate actively in the implementation of all government schemes for them. She encouraged women to take maximum benefits from these schemes. Mrs. Kulhari also encouraged the students to actively participate in the election process and to vote.
Mrs. Sushma Sharma, a resource person from the CMO’s Office, discussed women’s and children’s health, hygiene, and nutritional status, as well as the importance of proper Poshan for every child.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pooja Verma said this is not necessary that only the poor will suffer malnutritional issues; educated people can also have this situation. This happens because of ignorance of a balanced diet. Dr. Pooja emphasised educating the masses about a balanced diet.
Ms Sushama Sharma, representative of CMO office, Mr Rajinder Chaudhary, Addl. Director General, North-West Region, Ms Sangeeta Joshi, Assistant Director, Ms. Pooja Verma, Assistant Professor, Shoolini University, Prof. Vipin Pubby, Director School of Journalism and New Media and other faculty and staff members from Shoolini university were among the guests and speakers.
A Thematic Painting competition and an Essay Writing competition were also held for the students, followed by an Azadi Quest Quiz to deliver the message among students in a creative and productive way.
In the thematic painting competition, Astha Dhawan won first prize, Vijaya won second prize, and Saloni Verma won third prize. The essay writing competition was won by Gungun, a BBA student, Jhanvi Tripathi, BJMC third semester, won second prize; and Sharad, PhD, 3rd year, won third prize.
