Royal Holloway, University of London, and India’s top ranked private university, Shoolini University, are taking strides forwards in their global academic collaboration as they prepare to launch a transformative Dual Masters Degree Programme for the 2025/26 academic year.
The two universities have signed a Memorandum of Agreement, which will enable Masters degree students enrolled at Shoolini University to seamlessly transition to Royal Holloway after successfully completing the initial part of their studies in India.
Postgraduate students will spend one year at Shoolini followed by one year at Royal Holloway (‘1+1’). The 1+1 programme opens avenues for Shoolini University students to join specified postgraduate courses at Royal Holloway, subject to meeting predefined entry requirements. Upon successful completion of the initial part of their curriculum at Shoolini University, students will be granted admission to Royal Holloway, culminating in the attainment of a Royal Holloway, University of London degree, as well as an award from Shoolini University.
Professor Atul Khosla, Vice-Chancellor, Shoolini University said the collaboration with Royal Holloway “aims to provide our students with world-class education and research opportunities” and added that it would prove to be “a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to create a global learning environment at Shoolini University”.
Professor Julie Sanders, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Royal Holloway, University of London, said: “We’re delighted to take the next step forwards in our long-standing partnership with Shoolini University. It’s a partnership driven by wanting to build brilliant research-infused learning opportunities for our students, and our fundamental commitment at Royal Holloway to thinking and working globally.”
The Memorandum of Agreement provides for a 1+1 Masters programme in Biotechnology/Biosciences, and Psychology programmes, and allows for subsequent expansion to other fields.
Under the Agreement, students will undergo English language proficiency assessments, ensuring they meet Royal Holloway’s academic standards.
International students are warmly welcomed and supported at Royal Holloway. A number of support services for international students are in place to enable a smooth transition to academic life in the United Kingdom – and indeed, for them to thrive in their studies. This includes early move-in, free airport pick-up and a ‘New to the UK’ programme of activities on arrival, while the University’s ‘Home Away from Home’ schedule provides further opportunities for all students to share and celebrate their unique cultures and identities throughout the academic year.
Professor Sanders added: “being part of a global education community is such an important part of who we are and what we do – and something really exciting, for Shoolini University and Royal Holloway communities alike”.
In reply to a question by media persons, Prof. Atul Khosla stated, “We provide scholarships for underprivileged meritorious students and will support our students in gaining the best international exposure.”
