Two-day international conference concludes

A two-day international conference on Reformist Approaches to Human Rights at Shoolini University concluded successfully on Friday. The Chief Guest on a concluding day was Mr. Lenin Raghuvanshi, Founder and CEO of, People Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR).
The second day of the conference also witnessed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with three major human rights working foundations, Ladli Foundation Trust, People Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR) and All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice (AICHLS).
In his remarks, Mr. Raghuvanshi said that “reform is science, reality, and art.” He elaborated on Adi Shankaracharya’s worldview and the Vedic reformation methods.
Chancellor Prof. PK Khosla discussed his reformation process as well as his experiences with the legal and judicial systems.
Mr. Devendra Kumar, the founder and CEO of the Ladli Foundation, spoke to the audience in a special address about how to improve social conditions. He also spoke about his visit with President Draupadi Murmu. “When there is a lack of effort toward our duties, human rights are violated,” Mr. Devendra stated.
Prof. Sanjay Sindhu, Dean and Head of the Faculty of Law at HPU, highlighted aspects of human rights from the Indian Constitution. He also raised concerns about the unregulated nature of online media platforms.
A panel discussion was held on the “Framework of the Criminal Justice System.” Renu Pal Sood, Associate Professor at Shoolini University’s School of Legal Sciences, moderated the panel debate. A panelist, Mr. Anthony Raju, discussed the death sentence and judicial responsibility. He also spoke about the criminal justice system.
Mr. Vipin Pubby, Director of the School of Journalism and New Media, spoke on media trials, media over-reporting and the role of electronic media. “Media cannot and should not operate carelessly,” he added. Assistant Professor and panelist Gitanjali Thapar observed that “if we want to carry out the changes, sensitizing the youth is more important.”

Research scholars from the university and from other institutions presented their research papers. The conference’s organizer, Dr. Nandan Sharma, gave a summary of the proceedings.
