Training Program Launched for Hazard Resistant Construction at JUIT

In collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Shimla, the Civil Engineering Department of Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, has initiated a training program for Master Trainers on Hazard Resistant Safe Construction Practices. Vice Chancellor Prof. RK Sharma underscored the critical need for disaster-resistant construction, especially in high-risk regions. He stressed that this training must reach grassroots professionals for impactful results.

The program was organized under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner and DDMA Chairman, Mr. Anupam Kashyap, whose vision for disaster preparedness was instrumental. Dr. Tanmay Gupta, Assistant Professor and coordinator, highlighted the significance of the initiative, aligning with the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDRR). Prof. Ashok Gupta, Dean of Academics and Research, and Prof. Ashish Kumar, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, emphasized adhering to building codes for safer structures.

Twenty-six Assistant Engineers (AE) and Junior Engineers (JE) from Shimla District participated in this three-day program, which covers theoretical and practical aspects of disaster-resilient construction, heritage preservation, and codal adherence.
