Students Celebrate Word Weavers Day with Enthusiasm & Artistic Flair — DPS Shimla

Shimla, May 31, 2025 — Delhi Public School, Shimla, echoed with the vibrant voices of its young learners as it hosted the much-anticipated Word Weavers Day, a celebration dedicated to the art of public speaking, creativity, and self-expression.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across Nursery to Class V, all eager to showcase their talents through rhymes and poems delivered with confidence and zeal. The school’s remarkable achievement of 100% participation underscored its commitment to nurturing communication skills and building self-confidence from the earliest stages of education.

The festivities commenced at 5:00 pm with an elegant dance performance to Ganesh Vandana, followed by a welcoming address by Headmistress Kirti Tiwari. In her speech, Tiwari highlighted the importance of such platforms in helping students develop critical thinking, clarity of speech, and a passion for effective communication — skills that are essential for personal and academic success.

The program featured group recitations in both Hindi and English, with students presenting a diverse range of poems — from playful nursery rhymes to patriotic and value-based verses. Each performance was marked by expressive delivery, clear diction, and a genuine connection to the content.

The event reached its emotional crescendo with a heartfelt patriotic finale by students from Classes II to V, stirring pride and unity among the audience.

The Chief Guest, Anil Kumar Khachi, 7th State Election Commissioner of Himachal Pradesh and alumnus of DPS Mathura Road, praised the young orators for their eloquence and commended the school for organizing such a meaningful celebration.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Anuradha Sharma, Trustee of the DPS Managing Committee, followed by the National Anthem, leaving behind an inspiring atmosphere filled with pride and joy.

Highlights of the performances included: Nursery: Three Little Monkeys and Aah Tamatar Bade Mazedaar; LKG (A): Playing is Fun and Chinku Minku; LKG (B): Colours Talking and Sabziyon Ka Mela; UKG: I Raised My Hand in Class and Samay; Class I: Daddy’s Making Dinner and Baadal Aaya; Class II: The Cocoon and De Di Humein Azaadi; Classes IV & V: Sick and Ye Bharatvarsh Hamara Hai.
