In a unique collaborative effort, Shoolini University partnered with the renowned YouWeCan foundation, founded by the cricketer Yuvraj Singh, to organise a groundbreaking breast cancer awareness and screening programme.
As October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month worldwide, this initiative was taken to educate and provide vital screenings to employees on the university campus.
With an unwavering commitment to women’s health, this unique endeavour aimed to empower women with knowledge about the perils of breast cancer and urged them to undertake regular check-ups, with the goal of detecting the disease at its nascent stage, should it pose a threat.
Around 85 women, including teaching staff, non-teaching staff, and housekeeping personnel, participated in the event.
The dedicated medical team from YouWeCan foundation went above and beyond, offering comprehensive counseling to ease any concerns and discomfort among the participants. Their support was instrumental in ensuring that every woman felt at ease throughout the screening process.
Dean Student Welfare Mrs Poonam Nanda, speaking about her own experience, a cancer survivor who battled the disease twice, emphasised the importance of early detection and awareness. “I understand that the only thing that saved my life was awareness and early detection. This is the message I want to spread to every woman – cancer is curable, like any other disease, but you need to find out well in time.”
