A session on one of the finest books ever written in literature, Don Quixote, was conducted by Prof. Manju Jaidka, Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Ancient Indian Wisdom, Shoolini University.
Considered a prototype of the modern novel, it has influenced many writers and their writings.
Prof. Manju gave an extensive talk on the book, beginning with a general introduction to the period that it was written in and moving on to the writer. The book, originally written in Spanish, was published in 1605 and has been translated into 60 different languages.
Recounting her own experiences of having visited the town in 2019, Prof. Jaidka took the audience “literally” to the birthplace of the author. The idea of this book discussion was to instil in the students a love for literature and put them on the right track to follow classical literature in particular.
The session was introduced by Dr. Navreet Sahi. The vote of thanks was given by Mr. Neeraj Pizar. Dr. Purnima Bali announced next week’s session to be held on the book “Scarlet Letter” and the session will be coordinated by Mr. Hemant Sharma.
