Nauni University to celebrate 39th Foundation Day on Dec 1

Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni will be celebrating its 39th Foundation on 1st December. University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel informed that Prof. Ramesh Chand, Member NITI Aayog (status of Union Minister of State), GOI will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. The theme for this year’s foundation day is ‘Laying Foundation of Natural Farming Education: New Vistas to Future Climate Resilient Agriculture’. Shri Sushil Singla, Principal Resident Commissioner of Himachal Government at New Delhi and Shri RB Singla, Senior Policy Advisor (Natural Resources) and Project Director GEF Green AG, Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations will be the Guests of Honour. Several former Vice-Chancellors of the University, retired faculty and staff are also expected to attend the event. The various achievements of the university in the past year will be highlighted at the event.
The University was established on 1st December 1985 to promote education, research and extension education in the fields of Horticulture, Forestry and allied disciplines. Though formally established in 1985, the university has its roots in the College of Agriculture, Solan, which started functioning in 1962. Since its inception, the university has had a long history of excellence in education, research and extension. The combined efforts of its scientists, staff and students have brought great laurels to Himachal Pradesh in Horticulture and Forestry.
